Hi All! I recently finnished a long awaited (for me anyway and one of my other friends :P) chapter of my first Lord of the Rings. However, it's not my FAVORITE chapter, by all means I think it s****. Buuuuttttt. Anywho. Now. Considering it's been, like, months since I've posted a chapter of it I think I'll recap, plus, Jessie's never read it in her life (i'll send you the 4 or 5 chapters and you can read em at your lesure.) By the way, Lord of the Rings knowers this is an awesome MV done with Leggo singing They're Taking the Hobbits to Isenguard. It ROCKS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zczfK8FSqvA , the girl in this picture is Lenia as well.Okay to recap: My main charactor, Princess and Ranger Lenia (made up) had stubbled across Mirkwood after a battle where her companions, including her brother, were all killed in an attempt to distract Orcs and Wraiths (followers of Sauron, whose evil) from her mentor and 4 hobbits he was escorting. Saved from Mirkwood's guards by the Prince she was taken under medical care from him the best he could do and he took care of her and helped her regain what strength he could until a letter came from Lord Elrond of Rivendale informing him of a meeting that he MUST attend. Lenia begged him to go but he refused, afraid her health would fail if she went on too long of a journey. To her luck Haldir, an elf who works for her Grandparents of Lothlorien and a personal friend of hers, arrived after finding her horse on a trail, once he heard of the meeting he gave two options to her and gave Legolas no choice of answering, either going to Lothlorien from there and then to her homeland and people or strait to Rivendale, she took the latter-too curious in what this dire meeting was. Haldir and his men reluctantly left and Legolas, who was confused by Lenia being called princess, had no choice but to bring her to Rivendale. At the end of the last chapter I did (I'll do that first bit before my next chapter) it's very noticable they have befriended one another even though there's still an odd line drawn between the two of them.
Onto the story :)
End of chapter 5 clip:
Both sat in silence for several minutes. Legolas could tell by the way Lenia spoke that she wasn't in the mood to tell him what exactly happened so he wasn't about to puch the subject further. "You know Haldir well?" Legolas asked breaking the silence that had been laced with the sound of rain.
"Quite well actually." She looked at him, "He visited my home when I was young-he helped escort my grandparents-so it was hard not to get to know him. Once I got to know him well he baby-sat for me often and when I spent time Lothlorien he showed me around and looked after me. Him and I are about as close as Strider and I, and that is saying something." A smiled spread across her face as she spoke Strider's name.
Legolas smiled at her, "Considering you speak of him so often and in such high regard I'd say that's quite the compliment." Legolas said looking at her.
Lenia smiled sheepishly as a light rose color crept upon her cheeks but was shadowed by the darkness of the weather around them.
"Once the rain stops we'll head out again." Legolas said while taking his eyes off of her and taking a spoonful of soup.
Lenia looked at him her cheeks were now their normal pale tone, dusted with freckles dew to too much sun exposure. "You make the rain sound like a bad thing." She said critizing the tone of his voice.
"Well," Legolas started. "the rain is detouring us from Rivendal."
"Yes, that is so." She herself started as she placed her unemptied bowl of soup on the ground and crawled over to where the large pine's limbs ended and stuck her hand into the cold, wet rain, "Though, I have always thought of the rain as the Gods tears whether from happiness, saddness, proudness, or laughter. So as I see it-it's a blessing to be within it's presence , or better yet be in it." She smirked and got out from beneath the pine and stood in the rain letting the cool, pure, water drench her from head to toe.
"You are going to catch cold." Legolas said placing his empty bowl beside him.
Light merry laughter escaped Lenia as she lightly twirled in the cool, water rain. "Why does thou not enjoy the rain, My Lord?" She settled her playful child like eyes on him before twirling again in the rain like a child.
"I enjoy the rain, it's just it's detouring us." He looked at her, "And you're going to catch a cold-you're sick enough as it is already."
Lenia smiled as she pushed a lock of long drenched black hair out of her face while wiping off her dripping brow, "I am perfectly healthly! Besides-the rain never killed anyone."
"No, but phenomia can." Legolas pointed out.
Lenia smiled and walked back over to him, "I am not worried about catching cold, My Lord, I have been in far worse weather."
Legolas smiled back, "Maybe so, but at the moment I think the best thing for you to do is sit down, finnish your meal, and get some rest."
"Of course, My Lord." She said respectively and smiled kindly at him, sat down and began eating while watching the rain. Legolas looked at her bewildered, she hardly ever listen to him-was it something he had said?
'3 days, Lenia, three days.' Lenia told herself inwordly, 'In three days you'll be reunited with family, Gandalf, the Hobbits, and Strider-in three days everything will go back to normal.........won't it?' She looked over to the direction of Mordor, 'No.' A nagging voice came at the pit of her stomach but she shoved it away and told it to be quiet as she slowly ate.
Disclaimer: The only thing I own are my made up plot twists, made up charactors and places, other than that it's 100% J.R.R. Tolkien or the movie company that made it a movie (erg not sure what it's called)
By the way, I haven't read the book so, yeah, it's based on the movie.
HHHHEEERRREEE WWWWEEEE GOOOO!
Chapter 6: Rivendale
By: Katherine LaGassie.
The sounds of chirping birds, running crystal streams, and merry singing voices entered Lenia's hyper-sensitive ears. She took in a deep breath and smelled an all too familiar scent. Lord Elrond. Her heart happily skipped a beat at that thought, she opened her eyes as the brush around them subsided to visibly show Rivendal. She gasped happily-a sound resembing that of a young child finding a puppy on christmas morning.
Legolas smiled broadly, "Welcome to Rivendal." He said as he bought his horse to a hault. "The meeting will be starting soon so we should hurry inside." He slipped off the horses back , "Lenia?" He lightly tapped her leg with his finger clearing his throat.
Lenia was not paying attention to Legolas at all. Her eyes were fixed on the house of Elrond and the figure walking towards them from it. Lenia's face lit up like a light bulb and she jumped off Legolas' horses back ignoring both his help and the sharp pain from her beaten disaproving body. "Uncle Elrond!" She said as she ran full force and threw her arms around her uncle in a heartfelt embrace.
Lord Elrond smiled and wrapped her in an equally warm embrace. "My, you seem to be feeling better than Haldir discribed." He indicated a letter within his hands. "This arrived within moments before you arrived."
"I am feeling better than I have been, I will admit without Legolas I do not know what would have happened to me." Lenia looked over and smiled at Legolas.
Lord Elrond turned and smiled at Legolas, "Thank you for taking such good care of my niece, Legolas."
"It was my pleasure." He smiled and walked over to join them.
Lord Elrond turned back to Lenia, "Your grandparents wrote about your brother, it must have been a terrible fight." He said as he lightly moved Lenia's hair behind her ears to servay more of her injuries.
Lenia's eyes lightly fell, "It was." was all she said and she was silent for quite sometime. "Oh no!" She gasped clasping a hand over her mouth. "Strider, the hobbits-" her heart nearly stopped, "Did they make it back? Are they alright? Uncle Elrond-"
"Lenia dear-"
"Lenia!" A man running down from the house of Elrond said.
Lenia turned and looked around her Uncle, "Aragorn!" She ripped from Lord Elrond and ran toward Aragorn, "You're alright!" She exclaimed as she through her arms around him.
Aragorn chuckled and hugged her back, "When you didn't arrive you had me deathly concerned about what happened to you and your company, then when Galadriel wrote us about what happened and how your horse arrived, well-I--you had me extremely worried." He said and kissed her head, "You have no idea how relieved I am."
"I believe I do." Lenia said and hugged him again, "What happend after we left? What did I miss? Do tell please?"
Aragorn laughed at the anxious tone of her voice, "Slow down, Lenia, let's get you cleaned up and taken care of besides, Kadden and the hobbits are waiting to see you."

Aragorn laughed at the anxious tone of her voice, "Slow down, Lenia, let's get you cleaned up and taken care of besides, Kadden and the hobbits are waiting to see you."
She took a deep breath, all the excitment was making her dizzy. "Alright."
"We'll see you at the meeting." Aragorn said to the others and escorted her into the building. "We ran into some trouble after you left. Probably not long after you were attacked the black riders came after us, Frodo was stabbed and had it not been for Elven healing he probably would be dead." He looked at the horrified look on her face, "He's fine." To his relief she relaxed and he gently to her arm to lead her to the medical wing.
"Thank goodness." Her voice reflected her relief, "Can I see him?"
"After you're taken care of." Aragorn said and looked at her, "You know you caused quite a stir in them when you arrived." He smiled
Lenia laughed, "My entrance wasn't subtle if I remember right."
"Arwen put a sword to my throat."
"Remind me to thank her." She teased.
"Shadow..."
Lenia made a joking gasp, "Strider, since when do you call me by the Southern Rangers name for me?"
Aragorn smirked, "Now," He paused and rolled his eyes as he saw the joking defiant look in her eyes, "alright, alright," he sighed trying to sound as annoyed as possible, "Tigers-eye."
"Thank you." Lenia said and her eyes sparkled wickedly.
Aragorn sighed, "You're nearly impossible."
"You know it was a joke, Strider, or have you gone dull on thee?" Lenia teased Aragorn as they reached the wing by using old english that sounded as if it belonged on her tongue.
"No such thing, young ranger." He spoke and kissed her forehead, careful not to put pressure on her recovering wounds, "I will see you at the council meeting." He turned and left.
Frodo was sitting on his bed fidgeting with his bandages when Lenia walked up. "leave it be, Frodo, it won't help it to do such things." She walked in and Frodo looked up at her.
"You're-"
"One of the rangers you met? Uma." A puzzled look crossed Frodo's face, "It's elven for yes." She knelt down before him, "How are you feeling."
I took Frodo a few moments to reconize the woman before him, last time he had seen her she looked quite different. She had, had a ranger cape, jeans, a wrapped shirt, over skirt, and means of battle survival on-all of which were weather and worn from the travel of following them. What sat before him was someone who looked of royal stature. She donned a silver, blue and white elven dress, silver shoes, a necklace heavily resembling the Evanstar, azure bandages, and her wavy hair flowed over her shoulders like a graceful waterfall. "I'm feeling better." He finally said.
"Delightful." Lenia said and smiled, "You are a very lucky person, Frodo." She gently fingered his wound so it wouldn't hurt. "I'm glad you survived despite your injury." She eyed the ring. Her people's life line. It sent an odd feeling over her, as if Mordor was once again staring down her back. "Quite a gift that is indeed." A feared look came across Frodo's face and she laughed merily, "I have no want for that Ring, Frodo. Do not worry. You are safe as long as I am around."
"Lenia, Aragorn told me you might be here." Legolas said from the doorway
Lenia placed her hand on Frodo's knee and gave it a caring squeeze, "I will see you at the meeting." She stood and walked over to Legolas.
"Are you ready to head down to the meeting room?" Legolas asked holding out his arm to escort her.
"No." Lenia said quickly, "I still have to find, Kadden."
"Who?"
"Kadden my-"
"He's right here." Aragorn said walking down the hall holding a dark brown haired, blue-eyed boy, "With his Uncle Aragorn." He smiled ear to ear.
Lenia rolled her eyes but smiled nevertheless, "Kadden!" She ran over to them.
"Atana!" Kadden exclained reaching out to Lenia and she picked him up. Legolas blinked and stared at Lenia, mother?
Lenia turned and looked at Legolas after talking in whisper with Kadden. "Legolas this is my son, Kadden. Kadden," She looked at the boy, "Sina air tia malos, Legolas Greenleaf, haryon en' Mirkwood." (This is my savior, Legolas Greenleaf, prince of Mirkwood.)
Legolas blinked a few times while looking at the 17-year-old and 3-year0old before him. The idea of Lenia as a mother was hard to comprehend but he smiled anyway. "Caeli, Kadden, vaeresi sai taer o." (Hello, Kadden, pleasure to meet you) He said to the boy who only seemed to be able to speak and understand Elven.
"Caelai, voli kadelaes, sal o thys vaeresol tia tystia sai tri." (Thank you, Prince Greenleaf, for bringing my mommy back to me) Kadden replied, his bright blue eyes sparkling just like Lenia's always do.
Legolas smiled, "O-vi baesia shaelysti." (You're very welcome)
Kadden turned his head immediately to Lenia, "Ai jhoji cos tystia!" (I like him mommy)
Lenia smiled and kissed his head. "Ai mi." She spoke in her native Elven so her answer would only be hear by two other in the room and she glanced at Legolas and kissed Kadden's head again. Aragorn's eyebrows raised and he crossed his arms but she paid no attention to him. "Shia pyl's o kai vae shor Eilai Eiseal, jhyl." (Why don't you go play with Auntie Arwen, love)
"Eilol, tystia." (Alright mommy) Kadden said and Lenia placed him on the ground gently.
"Kyr shai, cali ther." (Good boy, have fun."
"Ai shor. Kyr shia iali Eisandrys, kyr shia voli Kaelaels." (I will. Good bye Uncle Aragorn, good bye Prince Green Leaf) Kadden said and ran off.
"He's adorable." Legolas said and looked at Lenia.
She smiled, "Thank you." She looked down the hall. "He refused to learn English."
"Understandable, why use another language but the one you've grown up around?"
"I suppose that is sensible logic." She said and smiled but something more seemed to be hidden behind her confident voice.
"You never mentioned him."
"It never came up."
"What else don't I know about you?"
"You'll find out at another time."
"Where's his father."
Aragorn's eyes flashed dangerously and his body sensed while Lenia swallowed oddly hard, "He left us awhile ago." Was all she said before walking down the hall towards the meeting area.
"Legolas." Aragorn said turning him around before her followed Lenia.
"Yes?"
"Just...don't mention that again. He's nobody she wish to remember-nor do any of us." Aragorn said before going around him and following Lenia. Once again puzzled by the girl that had fallen into his care only weeks before he followed Aragorn.
The rest of the council was already there when Lenia, Aragorn and Legolas arrived. "Hello," Lord Elrond said and indicated the empty seats, "Please take your seats amd this meeting with begin."
Legolas attempted to take Lenia's arm to help her to her seat which was conviently nest to his bu she tapepd his hand , "I'm not old-I can walk on my own." She walked over and sat beside Legolas.
A dwarf stood and began roll call. Lenia let her mind wander most of the time, there were a lot of people to call off before her name would be called. She scanned the area most of the council was made up of elves, some birds were playing in a bird bath and Merry and Pippin were hiding in the bushes while Sam was hiding in the hall.
"Legolas Greenleaf of Mirkwood?"
"Here."
"Aragorn-"
"Here." He said and the dwarf glanced up at him before continuing.
"Lenia Kindal of Nester."
"Nastar." four voices rang out. The dwarf blinked and looked between Aragorn, Legolas, Lenia and Boromir, "Which one of you is Lenia?"
Lenia blinked, she would have thought it obvious, not only was she the only female and Lenia wasn't exactly a male's name but she was the only one left. "I am."
"Very well." Lord Elrond spoke noticing the unease in his nieces voice, "Let us continue, we have buisness to attend to."
"Lenia." Legolas whispered and her eyes darted towards him in response. "I'm sorry for earlier." Lenia's brow furred, "About Kadden's father." Lenia's hand went up and down in a fast response to tell him to not worry about it. "I still am."
Lenia's mouth corners twitched in restraint of smiling but she allowed her eyes to sparkle to allow him to know she'dexcepted his unneeded appology.
"Fellow creatures of middle earth," Lord Elrond began and all attention turn towards him, "An opportunity like no other has arrived and been placed at our feet." His eyes shifted toward Frodo, "Bring forth the ring young hobbit."
Frodo's eyes darted to Aragorn, Lenia and Gandalf all of which nodded to him. He swallowed hard and placed the ring on the table before the council. Several eyes looked over at Lenia as the ring, which was directly before her like a tease, hit the solid stone. She shifted oddly, her whole body crawlin gwith the meer thought of Sauron, demon of darkness that was sufficating her people and half of middle-earth.
"We'll destroy it!" Gimli the dwarf exclaimed after some conversation. Her got to his feet and swung at the ring with his mighty axe.
Pain seered Lenia's body and wracked her brain, "Ah!" She entwined her fingers in her hair as Sauron's words blared like a speaker in her ears.
Aragorn and Legolas turned immediately to Lenia, "Lenia." Legolas spoke worriedly as Aragorn on the other hand just rubbed her back and looked at Lord Elrond.
"You cannot destory the ring, Gimli, son of Gloin." He stone was irrated, "Only the fires of Morder may destroy it." He looked at Lenia who waved him off as she slowly recovered,
There was more conversation that seemed like a blur to Lenia as Sauron's words continued to swirl in her head. Boromir said something and Legolas shot up, words still fuzzy , Lenia attampted to stop him but she was too lethargic and slow. Aragorn told Legolas to sit down in elvish and he did. More arguing continued and Lenia sat there wishing she could just pass out.
Aragorn was still rubbing her back and Legolas had his hand on her upper arm in hope that any healing he knew would go to her.
"Let's destroy the thing, bring it to the fires and let it be lost forever." A dwarf growled.
"Why should we destroy it?" Boromir said looked around the council, most of which tensed. "We should weild it and use it against Sauron and for our own good."Lenia's eyes shot toward him, did this man know the danger that would do to her people and half of Middle Earth? "With it we could destroy Sauron and all his creations, we could bring back the name of man!" Sauron's voice blared once more in Lenia's ears and she winced. Boromir set his eyes on the ring and his eyes sparkled wildly, "Think of the power that all of us would have and all we could do. "
"Boromir." She almost hissed and the council turned to her, she had yet to speak so her sudden tone shocked most of them. All but who knew her well anyway. "Did you not hear a word Lord Elrond just spoke?"
"He spoke of destroying it, not of anything else."
Her head began to pound while thinking of th stupidity of the man before her. "The ring must be destroyed." She urged, the council couldn't leave it standing. They just couldn't.
"And why so, elf." Gimli spat in her direction, coure she didn't hold it to his account, dwarves and elves weren't known to get along and the whole council felt the weight of this decision.
"You cannot weild the ring, it only answers to one master and one alone. Sauron. It will not listen to anyone but it's creator. It must be destoryed. If not half of middle earth could die. Sauron will not stop till he owns or destroys us. I don't know about the rest of you but I will not allow either." What was going on in her was no more a priority to her, the council needed to destroy that ring. Somehow.
"Then one of us will carry the ring to the fires of Mordor." Gandalf said.
After that everything broke loose, each race arguing over who should be carrying the ring and then insulting another race. In the end it was pure kaos, the only two still sitting (other than Lord Elrond) was Lenia and Frodo. Both looked at eachother, Frodo's eyes searching her crystalline sky blue ones for an answer. Finally he got it, she smiled at him and her eyes melted into a caring motherly gaze. All thoughts or feelings of doom seemed to melt away at her feet. "I'll take the ring." No one heard Frodo's voice as he spoke so quietly and his eyes darted at Lenia.
Lenia bit her lip and then looked between Legolas and Aragorn getting an idea, something Aragorn would scold her for later but she was going to do it nevertheless. She quickly made herself look as ill as she could possibly be. She made herself moan and immediately Aragorn and Legolas were both by her side. Her brother would be proud if he was still alive.
"Lenia." Aragorn said ergently and put his hand on her forehead, "What's wrong, what's the matter"
She sighed inwordly, why couldn't Aragorn be in ranger mode, they always understood eachother then, she moaned once more and pointed to Frodo. This time Legolas looked at her, "What about him, he make you sick?"
"For the love of the gods." Lenia whispered harshly,"I'm not sick." She ripped Aragorn's hand of her forehead, "He wants to take the ring."
Aragorn blinked. "You faked that."
"Something Tripton taught me-what the heck does that matter for?" Lenia said looking at him.
"Nothing." Legolas said and they all stood.
Lenia looked at Frodo and held up a thumbs up, he looked at her oddly, "raise your voice and tell them." She mouthed. It took him a few moments to understand.
"I'll take the ring!" Frodo said louder and this time the whole council heard, they all turned and looked at him, "I'll take the ring to the fires of Mordor and destroy it." Lenia smiled wickedly and Lord Elrond got the oddest feeling she had something to do with it.
One by one, Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn, Sam, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin and Boromir lended theirselves to Frodo as protection and help. The feelings that filled Lenia were something unexplainable to anyone who couldn't feel them. "Very well." Lord Elrond spoke and even he smiled. Aragorn's eyes focussed on Lenia who went to playing with her sleeved, he knew exactly what she was going to do and he gritted his teeth, as much as he would want her there he didn't dare put Lord Sryton's daughter in such danger. Lord Elrond looked around the room, "Anyone else?" His eyes specifically landed on Lenia who glanced up and around the room, her keen eyes letting her look puzzle the council.
"Yes." She said coolly, stopped fidgetting, walked over and knelt before Frodo, "We both share this burden Frodo, just in different ways and if there is anyway to, I would like to help you with your part. Even if it means jumping into the fires of Mount Doom itself to save you." She locked eyes with him, "You have what I can give, Frodo Baggins of the Shire."
Lord Elrond smiled as his niece turned and stood between Legolas and Aragorn, "Now we are set." He smiled, "Meeting ajurned." With that they all filed out.
"Lenia." Legolas said taking her by the arm.
She blinked, "Yes?"
"What do you think you're doing?"
"....leaving, going into the hall and to my room so I can prepare to leave tomorrow...as you will be doing."
"You know what I mean."
"No I don't."
"You have a son."
"Yes. I'm well aware of that."
"You know the danger you're putting yourself in?"
"Yes."
"You could be killed out there."
Lenia sighed, "Legolas," He still had much to learn about her, "You don't understand. I have to do this."
"You never have to do anything."
"You never have to do anything."
"Shows how much you truly know, Prince of Mirkwood."
Legolas raised his eyebrows, why'd she have to be so fisty? "I know quite a lot, Lenia."
"Maybe so, but not this." She sighed, "My peoples fate is tied to that ring, mine, and my sons are aswell. Personally I want to make sure my son lives over 4 years old, if you were a parent I'd think you'd feel the same way. Considering you aren't I thoroughly udnerstand why you don't care, however I do not appreciate you insinuating that I'd go kill myself without caring the effects it would have on my child. I do care but I'd rather risk my life to save him than do nothing and all of us die. Call me a horrible mother if you wish, Prince Greenleaf, but that's how I feel and if you dislike it. Please. Keep it to yourself." With that she ripped her arms from his and walked off down the hall. That wasn't exactly how Legolas had meant what he said, but there was no point in telling her that-she wouldn't listen,
Lenia had spent most of the day with her cousins and her son while Aragorn and the others readied things, it was Lord Elrond's request and she was not in the mood to disobey her Uncle's orders. She glanced over at her window, by the stars she guessed it to be nearly midnight, she sighed she was still packing for tomorrow, they were leaving early and she didn't want to miss anything or have anything hard to find, everything was perfectly organized and the only thing left was to put them in her bag. She yawned as her eyelids fought her attempts to keep them open, it had been weeks since she'd stayed up late while attempting to be coherent. She looked at her arrows and other weapons, some her brothers old ones. The thought of Tripton brought tears to her eyes, during the battle between the Orcs and their company She and him were the last standing. They had seen new found friends fall at their feet but knew they were Aragorn and the Hobbits only chance to get enough spead and be a head of them.
An orc went to attack her and Tripton had thrown one of his largest arrows into it's skin in attempt to deture it, "You!" he yelled at the creature, the last thing he wanted was his babysister being lost to such a foul creature. "Pyl's!" (Don't!) Lenia shouted as the creature began to turn at her elder brother she slammed her sword into it's thigh causing it to slam her to the ground if the force of trying to kill her. Tripton turned, angered by the creature, to defend his sister. The thought of loosing her made anger well inside him, there would be many who would feel the same way if something happened to her. He couldn't let it. He wouldn't. Tripton twirled his sword in his fingers as he ran toward the creature, if there was one thing he'd learned from his cousins and ranger friends it was that you never leave a man or woman in this case, if they were in trouble. "Why don't you pick on someone you're own size." He gripped his sword and the Orc turned toward him. Lenia ripped her sword from the flesh of the creature, "Don't, Tript." She begged, this whole thing was begining to frighten her. 4 wraiths appeared out of no where behind Tripton, fully armed and prepared to strick. "Tripton!" She screamed, horrified as a dagger slammed toward her brother who ducked out of the way. "Get out of here." He shot his eyes towards Lenia, she was more seniored than the others had been however this was the first battle she'd ever been in and he was not going to let it be the last. "No." She said defiantly as she stood, the Orc seemed to have lost interest with her and was ripping appart the already dead. "HEY!" She screamed at the Wraiths who were focused on her brother but they did stop pursuit, "HEY!!" She shrieked once more this time picking of a rock and throwing it at one of them. "LENIA!" Her brother said sharply and turned to look at her, "Don't-" He looked behind her, "Lenia!" He shouted and She turned and dove just as an Orc slammed a sharp blade down where her head would have been. "For the love of the gods, Lenia, would you pay attention to your surroundings if Strider was here he would-" He began as he started to turn around, sword ready for an attack but the Wraiths seemed to have dissapeared. He gripped his sword tightly, something wasn't right. Suddenly he heard four shrills from all angles and turned in time to see four wraiths come upon him. "TRIPTON!" Lenia screamed as she stood and attempted to run and help him but she was too late, her own brother was diced right before her eyes. "No." She murmured, she wanted to cry, she wanted to fall to pieces so bad it hurt but she shook her head and continued the fight. "O ber por si shyl sol" (You just did the wrong thing) She said and readied her weapons. This fight was not over yet.
Lenia swallowed hard at the memory. Tripton had always been there for her no matter what and the one time she could have helped him was the one time she let him die. The look on her brothers face seemed to haunt her, his last words-unfinnished-made her shudder. He had died because of her stupidity. If she had been paying attention so would he. Niether would be dead. She swallowed back a sudden lump in her throat as someone knocked on her door, "Come in." She said as she continued packing.
Aragorn slipped into the room, "Are you done yet?" His tone was teasing.
"Almost." She kept her tone steady, no need for him to worry.
Aragorn walked over and sat on her bed, "Are you sure about this? It's not going to be pleasant, Lenia."
"I've dealt with the unpleasant before."
"It's going to be worse than Tripton." He fell silent wondering if he should have mentioned that name.
Tripton's death flashed through Lenia's mind and she winced as she heard both his and the Wraith's scream, both telling different meanings, one telling her to run the other pure joy of death. She chewed her lip, "I'll deal."
Aragorn scanned her from behind, her truly wasn't sure if this was best for her. She wasn't fully healed, she was mourning, she had a son and she was underexperianced. He feared her reaction to death-before it had been shock, nothing dasterdly, but what would happen next time? Or better yet, if it was a child?
"Something wrong?" She turned and looked at him, "You look like you're in deep thought."
He smiled, "I was." She sat down beside him, "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes, Aragorn."
He scanned her, "If you-"
"ever need to leave you'll make sure someone escorts me here, to Mirkwood, Lothlorien or Nastar." She smiled lightly, "I've heard it before, Aragorn." She sighed, "I'm preparing myself to make connections but be ready for losses-I fear however that preparing will do no good. I will most likely become connected to people and things and when they are loss I will be sad," She saw the worried look in Aragorn's eyes, "but I will move on. Life goes on Aragorn." She thought of Tripton, "Tripton was a warrior, bother you and my cousins worked with him-you know that, if there were two ways to die and he had to choose that would be one of them, dying valiantly in battle. Yes. I do and always will miss him," She admitted, "but, my life will go on. It must. It has to."
Aragorn smiled at her, she was braver than he gave her credit for, "I know, Lenia, I know." He kissed her forehead, "Get some rest." He went to stand and she took his hand.
"Aragorn?"
"Yes?"
"Do you....blame yourself for what happened to Frodo?" Aragorn shifted, he knew the answer he was searching for, "Be truthful."
"In some ways."
"Oh, alright." She stood and walked over to her stuff and placed them on the floor.
He stood, walkig over to the door and turned to her, "It wasn't your fault, Lenia." She turned, "What happened to your brother could have happened to anyone. Besides. He'd rather have died than have you risk your life for him."
"It feels like my fault." She was begining to have a hard time talking.
"I know." He said and exited the room leaving Lenia alone to finnish packing and mourn in peace.
She sat on her bed pulling out a picture of her and her brother, "Namarie." (Fairwell) She murmured as a tear lightly stained the picture.
