To be in awe of the lame.
Sorry for posting twice in a row but some homework and Annora procrastination led me to reading some of my past things. One of which was a Nancy Drew story. When I was younger I was ADDICTED to Nancy Drew...I mean I still love it but I was addicted and was determind to right another series (cause like Carolyn Keene is a pen name and all and there are now so many branches of Nancy Drew....) And I started to. I got like 21 pages into it or something. It's the lamest thing I may have ever written--aside from my little house on the praire like book which was heavily based off the charactors from the educational cartoon Liberty's Kids.
Yeah....welcome to little me.
I'm gonna post the only two chapters of this Nancy Drew story wannabe because, yes it's 21 pages but its lameness deserves to be kept together. Gosh...I can't believe I'm posting this--this is most defianately an embarressing story o_O as well as more proof that I have forever been inlove with the name Emily. The first paragraph just alerts you how LAME this truly is going to be. Uuugghhh...ssooooo eeemmmbbbaarrresssiinnnggg!!! I began to Italic things but gave up--please, let your imagination go wild with the italics. lol
Chapter One:
A blue bird through Nancy’s bedroom window sang a good morning song. Nancy rubbed her eyes it felt like yesterday she had been outside all night planting a garden but that was two weeks ago with her best friends Bess Marvin and her cousin George Fayne at the local church in River Heights.
Nancy sat up in her bed and pulled a book out she had been reading called “One Rose” she started reading when she was interrupted by her house keeper Hannah Gruen
who had lived with the Drew’s since Mrs. Drew’s death when Nancy was three years old
“Nancy dear, George is on the phone!” Hannah said with the sweetest voice.
Nancy jumped straight out of bed and ran down the stairs and hugged Hannah then took the phone. “Hello George, good morning.”
“Good morning too, Nancy would you like to go out to ice cream? George said hopefully
“I would love too but Ned and I are going to the movies.” Nancy said sadly
“No problem, hold on.” George said as she dialed Ned’s home phone.
“Hello.” Ned said tiredly
“Ned would you like to go out for ice cream Nancy’s going and it can be a triple date me and Burt, Bess and Dave and you and Nancy.” George said hoping he would agree.
“Sure if Nancy’s ok with it.” Ned said Happy to be going to see his friends, maybe.
“Nancy’s fine with it right Nan.” George said excited
“Yup I’m fine with it. I guess I’ll see you there Bye!!!!” Nancy said hanging up the phone and rushing up stairs to get dressed.
In a couple minutes Nancy came out with shorts, a nice tang top with three flowers on it and sandals.
Nancy went over to the table and sat down and she ate some cereal.
“Good morning Nancy.” Carson Drew said smiling at his eighteen year old daughter.
“Good morning dad. I, Bess, George and our boyfriends are going out for ice cream so I won’t be here much longer the girls and I are going shopping first too.”
“Well it seems like you have a busy day.” Carson Drew said smiling.
“Uh-Huh. Also it’s going to be a fun one.” Nancy giggled. “Got to go, love you dad!” She said as she kissed her father on the cheek and ran out the door.
“That girl is as busy as me!” Carson chuckled.
“Yes, but she has more fun being busy then you do.” Hannah laughed as Carson went out the door and went to work. Hannah went to Nancy’s room and made her bed
At the mall Bess and George were waiting anxiously for there detective friend.
“Where could she be?” Bess said worriedly
“I’m sure she’s…… There she is!” George exclaimed.
Nancy drove into a parking spot and ran to her companions.
“I need to go to the post office first I’ve got to send out a letter to Jennifer I told her I’d write once a month at least.” Nancy said out of breath.
“To the postal area!” Bess said as the girls raced to the River Heights Mall, when they got to the postal area Nancy ran in and handed her letter to the women at the desk her name was Claire.
“Good morning.” Claire smiled as she spoke to Nancy.
“Good morning Claire I’m Nancy Drew is their anything here for me?” Nancy said hopefully.
“Umm…Yes, here it is.” She handed Nancy a letter.
“Thank you!” Nancy said as she walked out and shut the door behind her. “Hey this isn’t Jennifer I haven’t met this person before.” She said to Bess and George.
Nancy unfolded the letter within the envelope and read it aloud so Bess and George could hear but no one else could hear it. It said:
Dear Ms. Drew,
My name is Susan Berge. I have read in news papers about you helping people with multiple mysteries and I was wondering if you could come to my home in San Diego, California, I have a Mystery for you to solve if you’re up for a challenge! My son and two daughters and I live in a fairly well sized house that’s painted a beautiful yellow with green shudders. Please do not stay at a hotel I will pay for your tickets and everything and you may stay here. My mystery is urgent. I have arranged for Six tickets to San Diego so your friends can come too I have put the tickets in this envelope so you can come as quick as possible. I hope you come
Sincerely
Susan.
“A Mystery!” Bess said
“Wonderful! We can take the boys with us too.” George smiled at Nancy’s puzzled face.
“What’s the matter?” The cousin’s echoed
“Something’s wrong Susan seems nervous and worried. I wonder what the mystery is.” Nancy said to her Pals.
“I wonder if something’s been stolen.” Bess commented
“Something weird could be going on at her house.” George added.
Just then Ned was sneaking up on Nancy and Burt and Dave on there girl friends but Ned pounced on Nancy before the boys did there girl friends.
“BOO!” Ned pounced on Nancy’s shoulder.
“Ah!” Nancy half shrieked then she saw Ned. “Ned!” She smiled
“BOO!” Dave pounced on Bess
“BOO!” Burt pounced on George
The two girls shrieked then saw their boyfriends and laughed.
“Let’s get shopping.” Nancy smiled
“So what are you so happy about Nan?” Ned asked seeing a shimmer in Nancy’s eyes
“Oh Ned I have a Mystery, I mean we have a mystery.” Nancy exclaimed.
“We huh and what makes you think I will come?” Ned asked as he smiled knowing Nancy.
“I need someone strong to help me if I get in trouble my dear Ned I need someone to take care of me.” Nancy giggled
“Well if anyone tries to hurt you they’ll have to go through me first and that will be hard.” Ned smiled seeing that Nancy hadn’t heard him.
After a nice walk through the music store finally everyone got to shopping. Nancy went clothes shopping for more summer clothes. Boy did she need them it was hot out.
“Oh I hope they have my size because I’m going to die in California if I’m wearing pants.” Nancy giggled.
“Oh you’ll find some summer clothes in here.” Bess said
“Nancy! I found something you’ll like it’ll look great on you.” George said. In her hands she had a skort and a blue tank top.
“George I love it.” Nancy said as she put them in a hand cart so she could pay for them.
“Nancy do you think I’d look good in this.” Bess held up a flowered summer dress.
“Bess it’s wonderful!” Nancy said.
Nancy started to feel like someone was watching her she kept on glancing behind her every now and then but she saw nothing.
“Come on Nan let’s go and pay.” George smiled
Nancy and Bess nodded though Nancy was still sure someone was watching her but
did not tell her friends.
“Are you paying in cash or check?” An unhappy cashier asked Nancy.
“I’ll be paying in cash.” Nancy said as she handed $17.00 to the cashier.
“Have a nice day ma’am.” The cashier said angrily
“Thank you!” Nancy said trying to cheer her up but it didn’t work the woman just grunted.
As Nancy walked off she check her pocket book for her letter and it was there but there was something extra in there. What could be in there? Nancy stopped and looked in her pocket book. Nancy took out a perfume bottle but she hadn’t put it there and sprayed it on her hand and smelled it. All of a sudden Nancy fainted.
“George Nancy’s fainted!” Bess said running over to her friend.
“What?” George said walking up to Bess and Nancy.
“George what should we do? Should we get the boys?” Bess said worriedly.
“Yes Bess go get the boys I’ll stay with Nan and get her out of the way so no one sees her.” George said
“Ok.” Bess said as she ran off to the music store again
“Ned, Dave, Burt!” Bess said running to a halt
“What?” The boys chorused.
“Nancy’s fainted.” Bess said out of breath
“What?” The boys chorused as they started to get up from table staring a Bess
Bess ran out in front and made the boys fallow who at the moment look paralyzed
“Come on guys.” Bess grabbed the boys’ arms and pulled them for a few seconds then they ran by them selves
They all ran back and then walk quietly over to George and Nancy.
“What happened?” Dave said looking at Nancy.
Bess and George shrugged “No clue.” George said finally
Everyone was silent for a while as they thought of what could have happened.
A groan from Nancy instantly broke the silence.
Ned kneeled down next to Nancy. “You ok Nan?”
Nancy fluttered her eyes open and sat up. “Yes now I am.” Dave helped Nancy to her feet. “Thanks.” Nancy said smiling. Nancy looked down and grabbed the perfume bottle next to her purse witch Ned picked up. Nancy felt a little dizzy but didn’t show it.
“Is that what made you faint?” Burt asked curiously.
Nancy nodded yes “It has some chemical I’m allergic to in it I think. I’m going to buy it so I can have it tested for chemicals. “
“Good Idea Nan.” Bess said
Nancy walked up to the counter and paid for the perfume bottle. When Nancy walked back they all had started walking off so Nancy quickly ran to them. “Wait up.” She said as she finally reached them.
“Who’s ready to eat I’m starved!” Bess said
“You’re always hungry Bess.” George said with a giggle
“She might be the one who is always hungry but I’m the one that’s a little hungry now.” Nancy said with a smile. “Let’s get lunch then we can go for Ice cream while we tell the boys about the letter sound good to you?”
“Yes.” The cousins echoed
“What letter?” Burt asked
“You’ll see.” George said smiling at the three boys
Nancy walked to where her blue Mustang was parked and climbed in and headed for the closest restaurant and when she arrived at the Sunflower the nearest health food restaurant her friend arrived a minute or two after her. All of a sudden Nancy wasn’t hungry anymore.
After they had arrived and sat down they were all ready to order so Dave got a waitress. A young girl with shoulder length beautiful strawberry blonde hair and green eyes came over and immediately smiled when she saw Nancy.
“Nancy is it you, it’s me Stephanie Morgan! The girl smiled as she talked
“Stephanie! It’s great to see you it’s been so long since I saw you! Nancy said.
“I was eight you were seven it was at my house when we had a barbeque.” Stephanie said with a smile. “Who are these people?” Stephanie pointed to Ned, Dave, and Burt.
“Oh them they’re our boyfriends.” George said.
“You don’t have to make it sound like we are the worst things ever.” Burt said
Nancy and Stephanie brook into laughter then they calmed down.
“What would you like to eat?” Stephanie said through little giggles.
“I’ll have the salad and soup.” Bess said
“What about you Ned?” Stephanie asked.
“I’ll have a chicken sandwich.” Ned said
Stephanie did everyone then turned to Nancy. “What would you like to eat Nan?”
Nancy would of said nothing but instead said “I’ll have a salad.”
When Stephanie asked about drinks everyone said water at once.
“Need help carrying stuff?” Nancy asked
“Yes.” Stephanie said as Nancy got up to help.
“Nancy you look pale are you alright?” Stephanie whispered to Nancy.
“Oh I’m fine now but I fainted in the mall a while ago.” Nancy said
“Nancy are you sick?” Stephanie asked worriedly
“Oh no it was done on purpose someone placed a well why don’t you take a brake and sit down at our table I was just about to tell the boys what’s going on.” Nancy said.
“Ok I’ll do that.” Stephanie set the food on the table then wrote a note saying she was taking a brake and would be off for a while .She left the paper on the counter so her boss would see that she had not left but was on brake. After she came and sat down with Nancy and her friends.
“Ok this is what happened after me and the girls got to the mall today.” Nancy said.
“I went to send Jennifer a letter and I had a letter for me there also but it wasn’t a letter from her it was from some one else.” Nancy said that as she handed a letter around the table and everyone read it.
“Nan you have another mystery!” Dave said smiling
“We do.” George said. “Look at the bottom of the letter it says she has arranged for six tickets.”
“Oh I would love to know what happens please let me know what happens.” Stephanie pleaded.
“Of course I will.” Nancy said. “I’d take you but there are only six tickets. Sorry Stephanie.”
“It’s ok, will you call me when you get there so I know the house number incase some one needs you. Like your dad or some one.” Stephanie said in a caring voice.
“Of course I will!” Nancy said
Nancy went on and told about the perfume incident and that she was going to have it checked out by a scientist before she left.
“Oh Nancy please be careful you’ve gotten so close to death in the past please be careful!” Stephanie pleaded.
“I promise I’ll be careful.” Nancy said as a boy walk over to them
“Oh Nancy this is my boyfriend Alex.” Stephanie said with a smile
“So you’re the Nancy I’ve heard about.” Alex said with a smile as he shook Nancy’s hand.
Nancy looked at her watch. “Well it’s nice seeing you again Stephanie and it’s nice meeting you Alex but we really need to get going to the Ice cream parlor and after I have to get home and Pack. Bye!” Nancy said as her and Stephanie switched numbers. Then Nancy and her friends walked of and drove to the parlor.
“I can go for a sundae right now.” George giggled
“I could go for one too.” Burt said. “Want to split one George?”
“Sure.” George said smiling
Bess got a raspberry ice cream cone and Dave got a chocolate ice cream cone. Ned got a blackberry ice cream cone but Nancy said she had enough excitement to fill her up for today. And just tasted Ned’s’ ice cream before he ate any.
“I would not even be hungry if I hand as much excitement as you did today Nan.” George said. “I can’t believe you even ate a salad.”
“I didn’t want to but I didn’t want to scare Stephanie.” Nancy admitted. “I’ll regret it later at about two o clock I’ll have a stomach ach.” Nancy said while giggling. After the ice cream they all went home but Bess and George came to Nancy’s house.
“Hi dad how was your day?” Nancy said rushing inside.
“Hello Nancy, it was great.” Mr. Drew said. “How was your day Nancy.”
“It was exciting.” George said
Nancy told her dad about everything that had happened to her and her friends. “Can we go to Sandi ego dad?” Nancy asked half pleading
Mr. Drew paused for a moment thinking then said. “Yes you can go Nancy.”
“Thank you for letting me go dad!” Nancy said and hugged her dad then her and Bess and George ran upstairs and started packing Nancy’s out fits.
“Oh I can’t wait!” Bess said happily
“Me either.” George echoed
“I can’t wait to see Susan and find out what’s the mystery.” Nancy said anxiously.
“Nan, you can never wait to solve mystery.” Bess said. “You’re like me and food except it’s you and Mysteries not food.”
Everyone brook into a giggle fest then calmed down
“When do we leave Nan?” Bess said
“We leave early tomorrow morning.” Nancy said eagerly
“Susan did say come as soon as possible.” George said backing Nancy up incase Bess didn’t like having to get up a 5:30 in the morning for a 6:00 plane ride
“Ok I’ll try to be out of my Pajamas by then.” Bess giggled.
As soon as Nancy was packed Bess and George went home to pack them selves.
Nancy rushed down stairs as the phone started ringing. Nancy quickly picked it up.
“Hello.” Nancy said
“Miss Drew.” A muffled voice said
“Yes this is me.” Nancy said
“Stay away from Susan Berge’s house and away from her mystery or you and your friends will be in great danger. Mostly you will be in danger.” The voice said a little more clearer just a little not enough for Nancy to make out if it was a boy or a girl or anything she just new he/she was posing a big threat.
“What is your name?” Nancy said as the person on the other end hung up Nancy did the same. Just then the phone rang again
“Hello.” Nancy said in a shaky voice
“Nancy did you just get a weird phone call too.” Georges sweet voice was less scared then Nancy’s which made Nancy calm down.
“Yes, the person warned me too stay off this case and to have my friends do the same but he said me twice. I’m just a little shaken up now.” Nancy said in a very relaxed voice
“Same here but he said everyone twice.” George said trying to assure that every one and everything was going to be fine.
“George lock your doors tonight and call everyone and tell them to lock theirs too and to lock their windows just to be safe.” Nancy said
“Ok I will.” George said then hung up
Nancy walk to her car then drove off down to the chemical lab.
When Nancy walked in Mr. Kerman smiled at her.
“What can I do for you Nancy?” Mr. Kerman asked her
“I was wondering if you could take a sample of this and tell me what’s in it.” Nancy said handing him the perfume bottle. “I might not be home but here’s my number of where I will be.” Nancy said handing him a piece of paper with a number on it.
“I’ll try.” The man smiled and waved good-bye to Nancy as she left
Walked to car then stopped and thought. If I was being watched in the mall was I being watch all the time I was there? Is that how that person found out? Why would a stranger care anyway? Nancy was really worried about that phone call but she quickly snapped herself out of it and said to herself “Nancy he or she just wants you to be scared and you won’t fall for it will you. No you won’t.” Nancy walked to her car a drove strait home when she got home Hannah had made her a fruit salad dish.
“Yum this is a good fruit salad.” Nancy said as she took a taste of a plum “Hannah I’m going to go to bed right away and read so I’ll be ready to go tomorrow.”
“Alright Nancy I’ll take care of the dishes.” Hannah said with a smile
“No, I’ll do that first.” Nancy said taking a wash cloth and washing the dishes.
Within five minutes Nancy was yawning and walking upstairs and in her Pajamas crawling into bed and thinking about what had happened today and soon drifted to sleep.
The next morning Nancy awoke she immediately got dressed and ran down stairs to eat
When Nancy arrived down stairs her friends Bess, George, Dave, Burt, and Ned were waiting for her so they all could eat their breakfast together.
“Hi guys!” Nancy said running down the last four stairs and sitting down at the table
“Good morning Nancy.” They chorused
“Which car are we taking to the air port?” Burt asked
“Not mine it’s in the shop.” Ned said.
Burt looked at Bess and George but they shook their head no. Burt looked at Dave.
“I can’t do it either my friends using it for a couple weeks.” Dave said
“Same here my friend’s cars in the shop so he’s using mine.” Burt said looking at Nancy “You’re the only one left, we don’t have to take it with us it’s just to get us there then we can have your dad come by and pick it up and we can use a rental car when we reach Sandi ego.” Burt said sort of in a pleading way
“Yes we can use my car and my dad should be able to pick it up I’ll go ask him he’s watching the news I’ll be right back.” Nancy said going to the living room and comes out in a couple minutes. “He said sure he’d be glad to pick my car up with one of his friends to drive his car on the way home he’ll drive my car so he doesn’t have to toe it.”
“Ok that sounds great to me.” Dave said then looked at his watch “If we want to catch that plane we have to go and go now.”
“Ok let me go get the letter and the tickets and I’ll be ready.” Nancy ran up stairs grabbed her things and came back down stairs and they all ran out side and put their things in her cars trunk.
Nancy ran back and gave Mr. Drew a hug and kiss then she walked over to Hannah and gave her a hug and kiss and thanked her for the breakfast. “Good bye, I’ll call you when I get any news at all.” Nancy said walking out the door and getting into her car.
“To the air port we go!” Burt said smiling
They drove down the road singing songs on the radio and talking all the time till they got to the air port.
They walked into the air port got their luggage ready to go they walked up to the counter and told them they had to get to Sandi ego soon and they wanted to know what flight their tickets would be for.
“Well your tickets are for the flight is for the one at 6:00 like you thought Miss. Drew.”
The man at the desk said as he showed them to the air plane and then left them there.
“What are we waiting for lets go on the plane.” George said rushing up and everyone fallowed giving the ticket man their tickets so he could punch them.
Nancy had a window seat and George was next to her Ned was seated behind her with Bess and Dave and Burt were together.
“I just love watching the cars go by like little matchbox cars.” Burt said laughing
“I just love being able to see everything from a different angle.” Nancy said looking out the window
“I agree with you Nancy.” George said
“I like it because it’s so beautiful up here.” Bess said looking out the window.
The boys said they liked it because it got them where they needed to go faster then traveling by car. The girls nodded in agreement.
Within the first few minutes on the plane kids in front and back of Nancy and her friends would talk to them every now and then.
“Hi I’m Nicky.” A girl said to Nancy. The girl looked about nine years old with brown curly hair in a pony tale and grayish blue eyes.
“Nice to meet you I’m Nancy.” Nancy said with a smile
“Why are you going to Sandi ego?” Nicky asked Nancy
“I’m going there to see some one. What are you going there for? Nancy said
“My brother and I are going to see our dad and my brothers’ old school teacher.” Nicky said as a boy that looked about eighteen with dark jet black hair turned around.
“Nicky don’t bother people.” The boy scolded Nicky
“I’m not.” Nicky mumbled
“Hi my name is Brad. I’m sorry about my sister bothering you ma’am.” The boy said
“Hi I’m Nancy. Brad your sister wasn’t bothering me at all.” Nancy said to Brad.
“Ok. Umm…may I ask who your friends are?” Brad asked
“Yes you may.” They all chorused
They all introduced themselves to Brad.
“Who’s your teacher? Burt asked. “I have a friend that might know him or her.”
“His name is Professor. Duncan.” Brad said “It wasn’t always though. He just got a divorce and changed his name to Duncan. He always hated the name he had in the first place I guess he finally changed it.
“Your sister said you were going to visit your dad.” George said
“Yes, my dad’s work took him to California and mom didn’t want to go so we go and visit dad every now and the but soon he’ll be coming home.” Brad said
At that moment the plane landed in, Sandi ego California.
“Nice to meet you guys.” Bess said
“Nice to meet you Brad and nice to meet you Nicky” Nancy said
“Nice to meet all of you guys.” Brad and Nicky said together
Nancy and her friends said good-by to Brad and his sister. When they retrieved their
Luggage Bess went and called a taxi. When one car pulled up and the driver asked where too George quickly said to the car rental service department please. The man nodded. They were about to get in the taxi when some one shouted Nancy’s name. It was Brad. Nancy and George ran over to him.
“Yes Brad what do you want?” Nancy said
“If you need someone to show you around you can call me at this address.” Brad pulled out a small torn piece of paper. “This is my dad’s number.” He smiled said good-bye a walked off
Nancy and George hurried to the taxi and jumped in. The taxi driver drove down a country road. The young people admired the scenery with trees that had lushes green leaves and beautiful flowers with green grass that look like it danced in the breeze. When they reached a well sized car shop Ned paid the driver and thanked him as the young people walked into the store. Burt walked up to the desk and asked the clerk for a rental car which had been left aside for them. The clerk nodded and walked out back and came out in five minutes.
“The car is out front and waiting for you.” The clerk said.
“Ok.” Burt said.
The young people ran outside to the car. “Isn’t it beautiful?” Nancy said
“Indeed it is Nancy.” Dave said nodding
Ned hopped in the driver’s seat with Nancy and Bess at his side and George, Dave, and Burt in the back. When they were pretty close to the Berge’s house it was getting pretty hot in the car. “Nancy can you roll down you window we’re hot back here.” Burt complained.
“Ok.” Nancy said rolling down her window. All of a sudden water poured through the window onto Nancy and a little on Bess. Nancy quickly rolled put her window. “I’m soaked!” Nancy said looking at her jeans.
“Don’t worry soon we’ll be at the Berge’s house soon and you can dry off there.” Dave said.
“I guess your right.” Nancy said.
Time quickly passed as they drove to the Berge’s they were happy and surprised when they got to the Berge’s house. Before them stood a huge and beautiful yellow house with dark green shudders a flower bed in the front and a pool in the back it was gorgeous to look at with the lushes green leaves on trees and beautiful lushes green grass and roses, Daisy’s and more. “Wow this is different than the description!” George exclaimed
Ned parked the car in the drive way that already had six cars in it and the young people
hurried to the front door.
“Now we’re all soaked!” George said laughing
“And cold don’t forget cold!” Bess said.
“I’m freezing!” Nancy said rubbing her arms.
Burt pressed the door bell several times until he heard a women’s voice.
“Hold your horses I’m coming!” a woman said running down the stairs and opened the door. The woman was tall with curly black hair.
“We are here to see Susan.” Ned said
“How do you know Susan?” The woman asked staring Ned in the eye. Just then a young girl about seventeen with shoulder length light brown silky wavy hair came over.
“Martial stop bothering people if they want to see Susan she most likely asked them to come. Plus they’re most likely freezing in the pouring rain!” The young girl let them in.
“Alright Em but if anything happens don’t blame me.” The older one turns and walks away.
Chapter 2:
“Sorry about that Martial is over cautious. By the way my real name is Emily you can call me Em though.” The young girl smiled. “Who are you?”
Nancy and her friends introduced themselves and why they had come to Susan’s house. “Oh I’ll get Susan right away wait in the living room.” The girl pointed to a room the hurried off.
The young people walk up the stairs still cold and wet. At the same moment a boy about a year younger then Ned with brown wavy hair and hazel eyes and a girl about nine with Champagne blonde hair and bright blue eyes ran in under an umbrella.
“It’s pouring out…who are you?” The boy asked at that moment a woman about forty-nine years old with brown-blonde hair walked in and interrupted.
“These are the people I told you about Cody Miss. Drew and her friend’s I believe their names are Bess, George, Ned, Burt, and Dave.” The woman said “By the way I’m Susan and that is my Daughter Sierra.”
“Yes we’re them.” Dave spoke up.
“Are you here to find my mama’s money and jewelry?” Sierra asked Nancy
Nancy knelt down her hair still dripping. “Yes we are. And we will find them that’s for sure.” Nancy said.
“Well you kids go get warm clothes on and then we’ll eat supper.” Susan said “Carperdale, please show the people to their rooms.”
A man with gray hair and a mustache and old English an accent appeared and took the young people to their rooms. “Your bags have already been brought in to your rooms.” The butler said.
“Thank you.” Nancy said then everyone went into their rooms to get changed. When they were done they joined each other in the living room. The young people wore
sweaters and jeans. Just then Emily walked in the room. “Supper is ready. Just follow me.” Emily said. As the young people walk through the hall they realized that this indeed was more then an over sized house it’s a mansion! They fell in love with it at once with ease.
As a bright lighted room came into view the young people gasped.
“It’s Gorgeous!” Bess said in astonishment.
Before them stood a Beautiful kitchen with a table that sat sixteen people and in front of each seat was a white china plate with a blue design on each one and in three of the seats were Susan, Sierra, and Cody.
“Come and sit down.” Susan said with a worried face
Nancy and her friends sit down then Nancy asked “What’s the matter Mrs. Berge.”
“Nancy dear please call me Susan.” A warm smile came across the woman’s face but quickly faded. “Nancy I left a few details out in my letter.”
“Yes I see.” Nancy looked around the kitchen.
“Well Nancy you see I was afraid you wouldn’t come if you knew what my house looked like and my yard and how many cars I have.” Susan said sadly. “I didn’t want to make it look like I was a snob or an unkind and uncaring person which me and my children and staff and friends are caring people.” Susan said to Nancy who had a caring face on. “Nancy I now know you would have understood my problem anyway no matter if I was rich or poor.”
Nancy nodded she liked Susan and her children seemed like the sweetest people. “Susan, you said you had two daughters could we meet the second one.”
“Of course hold on.” Susan said as she got up and walked out a door.
“So Nancy how was your plane ride.” Cody asked.
“Good thank you Cody.” Nancy said
“So what do you do around here?” George said.
“We have a stable so we ride our horses sometimes if its good weather we go swimming and we can swing and stuff.” Sierra said “Plus we have a dog named Sweet pea plus her little puppies.”
“What kind of dogs are they?” Ned asked
“They’re Border Terriers.” Cody said
“Oh they must be darling!” Nancy, Bess, and George said together.
“They are.” Sierra said as her mom came in with a tall auburn haired, gray-blue eyed, about twenty-one year old girl.
“Nancy, this is my daughter Rebecca.” Susan said “Rebecca, this is Nancy Drew and her friends Bess, George, Ned, Dave, and Burt.”
“Hello everyone I’m glad you could come.” Rebecca said sitting down she smiled but her smile seemed shaky.
“Is everything alright?” Dave asked.
“No we are not alright.” Martial said coming out carrying chicken soup with Emily beside her.
“What she means is we’ve had some troubles.” Emily said looking at the floor then set the food on the table and walked back to the kitchen Martial stayed behind to listen in.
“What Troubles?” Burt asked.
“Last week after my mom and dad split up some of my mom’s special jewelry was stolen and we found Carperdale in the kitchen picking up glass that had come out of our window.” Cody said
“Someone broke in two nights ago and stole some money but didn’t get far sweet pea heard them this time and scared them off before they could get more the six hundred dollars.” Rebecca said
At that moment a scream and two crashes came from the kitchen.
“Emily!” Martial exclaimed as Susan and the others rushed into the kitchen and found a broken window and a very scared Emily. Emily was shaken and by her feet was a glass plate broken to pieces.
“What happened?” Susan said as she walked toward Emily.
“I-I was doing the dishes when a man’s face came in the window and next thing I knew a rock with a note came flying through the window and I dropped the dish.” Emily said. Susan gave Emily a hug. “I’m so sorry.”
“It’s ok it’s over now Emily.” Martial said.
Emily was now sitting down with Rebecca by her side calming her down. “The rocks over there by the door.” Emily said pointing to a dark brown door with a bird sized rock in front of it with a note stuck to it.
Nancy walks over to the door and picks up the rock she takes the note out from under it and reads it aloud. It reads:
Dear Ms.Drew,
I’m surprised you didn’t listen to my first warning. Bad girl, I thought I told you that you’d be in big trouble if you came to the Berge’s house? You don’t listen do you? Well I guess I’ll have to get you to I must leave you now good bye.
Anonymous.
Nancy folded the paper after she finish reading it.
Susan looked Nancy and her friends in the eye “What warning? Did I put you in danger?” She asked worriedly.
“No you didn’t put us in danger. Some kid just did a prank call to scare us that’s all.” Nancy said. “They just want to see me crack while I’m on a case that’s all.”
Emily looked at Nancy. “I’m sorry for disturbing your evening everyone.” Emily said trying to hold back tears. “I ruined your hole evening!” a couple of tears rolled down her cheek.
“You didn’t disturb us at all.” Bess said.
“Em you can take the night off.” Susan said getting Emily to her feet
“I couldn’t do that Susan! I have nothing to do and I’m to shaken to feel comfortable alone.” Emily said as she wiped tears off her cheek.
“Come eat with us then.” Cody said “If none of you guys mind?”
“We don’t mind one bit.” Burt, Dave and Ned said
“Same here we don’t mind at all.” Bess, George, and Nancy said.
“That settles it then we’ll eat and then go to bed.” Susan said and everyone walked back into the dinning room ate. It was silent the rest of the evening.
When Nancy got into her Pajamas and into bed it was eleven. After supper instead of bed they had played some board games then talked and soon it was time to go to bed. Nancy wasn’t too sleepy but she wanted to relax a bit. She pulled the book she’d been reading.
Nancy was half way through the book when there was a nock on the door.
“Come in.” Nancy said
The door opened and Emily came in with a Puppy in her arms.
“Sorry to bother you Nancy but Susan wants everyone to have a dog in their room.” Emily handed the puppy to Nancy. “His name’s Clue.” Emily said
“Thank you Emily.” Nancy said petting the tiny puppy. Emily nodded and walked out the door shutting it behind her. Nancy put down her book turned out the light and fell asleep.
Nancy awoke the next morning by a puppy licking her face. “Good morning Clue.” Nancy said getting up, getting dressed, making the bed and unpacking. She was about to leave the room when the puppy started whimpering. Nancy walked over and picked up the puppy and the puppy started licking her hand. Nancy walked out into the dining room where everyone else was.
Emily looked up from the tea she was pouring.
“I guess I made a good match when I gave you Clue.” Emily said
“I guess you did.” Nancy looked over the room “Where’s Sierra?”
“She’s at a friend’s house.” Susan said
“Oh ok just wondering.” Nancy said sitting down next to Ned. Everyone sat down and ate the sausage and eggs that Martial had made for brunch.
“These eggs are terrific Martial.” Bess said
“This is better then my moms I must say.” George commented
Nancy and the others agreed that this was one of they’re best meals ever. After the meal was over Nancy and the others went to pick up their plates when they were disturbed by a nock on the door.
“I’ll get it.” Cody said running down stairs and coming back up soon.
“Who was it Cody?” Emily said taking the dishes off the table
“Just some person who came to see you that’s all. Why don’t you go see him?” Cody said
Emily put down her dishes and walked over to the door but before she could open it a boy came out with jet black hair. Emily rushes over to him and hugs him.
“What are you doing here?” Emily asked
“I thought I’d come visit you since I’m in town.” The boy said as he kissed her.
“Oh,” Emily whispered “Thank you for coming! Thank you so much. Oh these are some friends of Susan…”
“Nancy!” The boy said.
“Brad!” Nancy and her friends said at once.
“I guess you already know my boyfriend.” Emily smiled at him
“Brad it’s nice to see you again come on sit down let’s talk.” Susan said leading every one into the living room.
“I guess this is the person you’re visiting Nancy.” Brad said smiling as he sat down next to Emily.
“Yes Susan is the person I’m visiting. It seems like a nice quite place although so far I think it’s going to be a noisy stay.” Nancy said
“Why do you say that?” Brad said
“I think Emily should say why I think that.” Nancy said as she watched Brad’s gaze land on Emily.
Emily got nervous again and gently tightened her grip on Brad’s hand “It was last night when they were eating dinner I was in the kitchen…” Emily was leaning on Brad now “doing the dish when a man’s mean face came in the window and I drop a dish and screamed then a rock came through the window.” Emily gulped it was obvious she had been terrified by last night. “The letter was a warning to Nancy and her friends to leave Susan’s house and get off the case.” Emily was holding back crying as Brad put his arm around her.
“It’s ok Em.” He said as his smile faded. “What’s this case she’s talking about Nancy?”
“Well we weren’t all that honest with you before on the plane ride.” George said
“We’re not visiting Susan we’re here on business.” Bess put in.
“Nancy is a detective.” Burt added
“She’s here to solve a case.” Dave said
“Susan asked us to come here and solve it for her.” Ned said.
Brad was obviously confused by the different people talking.
“Let me put it this way,” Nancy said “Susan has been having some problems and she asked me to come fix some problems and I seem to have brought more problems with me.” Nancy said.
“Oh ok I get it now.” Brad said brings his left hand through Emily’s soft and silky light brown hair. “I love you Emily.” He whispered in her ear. Emily puts her head on his shoulder
“I should probably go take care of those dishes would anyone come with me.” Emily asked lifting her head nervously.
“I will.” Brad said then the two of them walked into the kitchen.
Nancy looked out the window a storm was rolling in it was pretty dark and hard to see farther then five feet in front of you.
“Nancy, could you go out to the store and get some groceries before the storm starts.” Susan said.
“Sure Susan.” Nancy nodded
“We can all go I have I car that holds eight.” Cody said. “Do you mind driving alone Nancy.
“No I don’t mind at all.” Nancy said. Susan handed the list to Nancy and said goodbye.
Nancy and her friends had been shopping for a while and it was already one o’clock they’d been there for a half and hour. Finally done shopping they paid for the food and stuff and put some in Nancy’s car and some in Cody’s soon they were driving on the road Cody was four or five cars behind Nancy. Nancy was about to put the radio on when her cell phone rang.
“Hello.” Nancy said
“Hello Nancy.” Emily said
Nancy and Emily talked for a good 10 minutes.
“Can you hold on one sec...” Nancy’s cell phone drop onto the ground as she went to put on the radio. When Nancy went to pick it up Nancy felt a huge bump and next thing she knew she felt a jolt and screamed.
“Nancy!” Emily screamed into the phone when it disconnected.
Nancy sat up strait and focused on driving the car in front of her had sped up quite a bit so she did too but the car in back kept on bumping her trying to run her off the rode. When Nancy tried slowing down she couldn’t. Her brakes weren’t working! Nancy started to breathe hard.
Another car pulled up beside Nancy’s and started bumping her that way too. Rain was pouring onto Nancy’s windshield and making the road slippery and hard to drive on the car in front of Nancy slowed down. Nancy swerved to the side to get out of its way. When Nancy had swerved she did it to hard and next thing she knew she was sitting sideways in a car that had been tipped on its side.
“Ouch, that really hurt.” Nancy said unbuckling her seat belt. Nancy saw a car stop next to hers. Brad, Ned, Cody, Burt, and Dave jumped out with the girls following them.
“Nancy you ok?” Ned said helping Nancy out of the car.
“I’ll be fine ounce I’m sitting on non-moving ground.” Nancy said smiling
“Oh Nancy when our phones disconnected I was so afraid something happened to you and I was right.” Emily said “Are you sure you’re alright.”
“Yes I’m sure I’m alright.” Nancy said
Ned with the help of Brad, Cody, Burt, and Dave got the car up in the right direction.
“So how did you get the car lying on its side?” Burt said.
Nancy quickly relayed what had happened.
“Hmm… interesting some one tapered with your brakes.” Brad said looking at the brakes with Ned.
“Big time,” Ned said as he hit the brake and part of it fell off. “Some one tried to hurt you Nan.”
“It was definitely no prank. Some one tried to hurt you seriously or…” Dave started.
“Kill you!” Emily blurted out. “Oh Nancy you could have been killed!” Em fell down on her knees. Brad knelt down next to her.
“I’m ok though.” Nancy said looking down at Emily who was leaning on Brad.
“Nancy maybe that person was right maybe you shouldn’t keep going on this case.” Emily said.
“I’d love to but I leave no case unfinished.” Nancy said.
“Well if you aren’t going to stop could I…well… help.” Emily said standing up.
“You sure you want to.” George said
“Yes, I might have been frightened by the rock going strait at my head but I’m adventures…and I’m good at mysteries I used to solve the mysteries in books before I was half way through the book and before the detective.” Emily said
“Sounds like you Nancy.” Dave said.
“Yeah she does…sure why not you can help.” Nancy said smiling. “I always need two of my brains.”
Emily starts to giggles along with the others. Brad looks at Nancy as if saying thanks. Emily stands up and looks down at her waitress uniform it was soaked! Em’s hair was in a bun when they left but know the bun was coming out. Everyone had mud on there faces hands and clothes.
“Susan is going to be worried if we don’t get back soon.” Emily said
“We can’t go any where the rental car can’t be used the breaks don’t work and if Nan tried to drive in that thing again she’d kill herself.” George said
“I’m not stupid I know that.” Emily said
“Why don’t we tow the car our selves I mean tie a strong rope to my car and your car and drive home?” Cody said pulling a strong rope out from the back of his car.
“Sounds good to me personally I think we should do it. What about you guys?” Dave said
“We agree.” Everyone chorused
Cody with the help of the other boys tied the rope to the rental car and Cody’s car.
Burt and Dave went in the rental car and everyone else went into Cody’s car. Cody stepped carefully on the gas and soon they were and Susan’s house.
“I hope Susan isn’t worried.” Emily said. Stepping out of the car and looking at the wet watch.
“Let’s worry about that after we’re inside.” Cody said as they all walk to the house when they got to the front door Cody opened it.
“Mom, Martial, Carperdale you home? Cody said.
“Yes we’re here Martial and I will be right there dear.” Susan said coming down the hall with Martial and Sierra.
“What happened to you?” Sierra said taking the words right out of her mother’s mouth.
“We had some complications with one of the cars.” Cody said the others must have also thought it wise not to tell Susan the details because they had nothing to add.
“Oh my gosh look at you guys you’re a mess!” Martial said shaking her head
The young people look at themselves for the first time to see how dirty the really are. Mud is dripping off of them and they’re soaked! Everyone’s hair is messed up and muddy.
“Where’s Carperdale mom?” Cody said ringing out his shirt awkwardly
“He’ll be here soon I bet he’s in the basement fixing the cable.” Susan said.
A minute later Carperdale came up the stairs and stared at the young people.
Emily pushes her now muddy hair out of her face and looks at the floor. “Oh I’m sorry Susan I’ll clean that right away.” Emily said sincerely
“Oh don’t worry about it Em dear.” Susan said everyone seemed to be in shock of the young peoples’ appearance.
“Em what happened to you!” Carperdale said looking at Emily in surprise.
“One of our cars broke down.” Burt said.
“Oh my, we’ll have that fixed right away.” Susan said “Um Martial can you go put on some tea for us please.”
“Yes Susan.” Martial said while walking off
“Um Mrs. Berge…can we like get dry and warm and...clean?” Brad said looking at Susan.
“Of course Brad…Oh and Brad you can borrow some of Cody’s clothes.” Susan said
“Okay thank you Mrs. Berge.” Brad said
“Come on follow me.” Emily said as they all walked up the stairs behind Emily till she stopped in front of two doors. “This one is the boy’s showers and this one is the girl’s showers.” Emily said pointing to whose is whose and then departed with Nancy and Bess and George.
In about a half an hour they all came out of the showers and met in the hallway.
Emily is wearing a maroon short sleeved shirt and jeans the outfit is quite a difference from her usual maid/ waitress outfit.
Nancy, Bess, and George are wearing short sleeved shirts and jeans. George’s is a dark green, Nancy’s is a sky blue, and Bess’s is a pink.
“Let’s get something for supper, I’m starving!” Cody said.
“Yeah we’re hungry too.” Ned, Burt, and Dave said
“Then what are we waiting for let’s go eat.” Brad said
The young people walked down the hallway and upstairs then down another hallway then down another set of stairs till they reached the end of the hallway that connects to the living room.
“Come in and sit down we’re having supper in here tonight.” Susan said who herself was sitting in a chair next to a large oval coffee table.
They young people came in and took seats around the coffee table too.
Martial came in the room closely followed by Sierra, both of them were carrying cups of tea.
“Carperdale will be in shortly with dinner Susan.” Martial said placing the tea on the coffee table.
“Thank you Martial.” Susan said smiling.
“Thank you for helping me Sierra, I think I can manage now, if you would like to go and sit with the others.” Martial said to Sierra.
“Alright, if you wish.” Sierra said as she sat down next to Cody.
Martial smiled and walked out of the room.
“Susan, may I use your phone to call a friend, I forgot to call her last night.” Nancy said as she took a sip of tea. “mmmm, this is delicious tea.”
“Yes you may use the phone.” Susan said smiling. “I’m sure Martial would love to hear that compliment.”
Nancy nods and walks off to use the phone as Burt, Dave, Ned, Cody, and Brad got into a conversation about football.
Nancy quickly dialed Stephanie Morgan’s phone number anxiously.
Oh please pick up Steph, oh please do pick up. Nancy thought as the phone kept on ringing.
“Hello Morgan residents, may I please ask whose calling.” Some one said when the phone finally picked up.
“Hello I’m Nancy Drew, I’m looking for Stephanie, is she home?” Nancy said.
“Yes she is you’re talking to her Nancy.” Stephanie said and she and Nancy laughed.
“It’s great to hear from you Nan…but you didn’t call last night like you said you would…I was worried Nan.” Stephanie sounded sincerely worried.
“I’m sorry Steph, I forgot to call. I’m perfectly fine so you have nothing to worry about, Steph.” Nancy said reassuring her friend.
“Alright if you say so, so give me the number of where you’re staying so I can call you to check up on things!”
Nancy laughs, “Alright it’s 1-805-967-4392.”
“Got it, well I got to go, good luck and stay safe Nan!”
“Alright, same to you, Steph, talk to you late, bye!” Nancy hanged up the phone and walks into the other room and sits down next to Ned.
“Brad would you mind driving Sierra over to Cara’s house when you take Nicky there?” Susan said.
“Not at all.” Brad said with a smile
“Susan, would you mind taking me into town tomorrow I would like to look around get the hang of things, you know, see the town incase I need to use some of the resources there.” Nancy asked
“I’d love to, Nancy, dear but I can’t, I’m busy tomorrow.”
And so it is never continued.
I didn't even know PUNCTUATION then. *hangs head* I want so bad to narrate it like.....who randomly buys six tickets so a sleuths friends can tag along? How did she KNOW she had six friends?! lol. I'm sure you can do plenty of narration on your own :D
Now I can safetly say:
This is one of the worst things I have ever written
